Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Japanese textiles with our Futo-daimyo (feudal lord) stripe fabric. Woven from 100% Matsusaka cotton and dyed using traditional natural indigo techniques, this fabric showcases alternating navy and light navy stripes on a deep indigo background, exuding timeless elegance.
Matsusaka cotton boasts a legacy dating back to the Edo period, originating from Mie Prefecture. During that era, merchants specializing in this fabric established stores in Edo (modern-day Tokyo), reportedly selling over 500,000 rolls (approximately 6 million meters) annually, catering to half of Edo's population at the time.
