Japanese Premium Fabric – Future of Kakishibu Dyed Products

Japanese Premium Fabric fans may already know from our Instagram that all product numbers including persimmon tannin dyeing will be discontinued, with a few exceptions.

The reason is that the craftsman in charge of Bingo Setsubori's Japanese Premium Fabric persimmon tannin dyeing is retiring, with no successor, and material costs have risen sharply in recent years.

Although other workshops are willing to handle this work, we have not reached an agreement on price, so unfortunately, production of these Japanese Premium Fabric products must end for now.

When we made this announcement on SNS, we received regretful comments from many customers about the end of production.

Among them, we received many requests from overseas customers for the continuation of the product, which made us a little happy that we were able to convey the charm of Japanese persimmon tannin dyeing even a little... I was a little happy to hear that.
But the end of the production itself is very sad. The current stock will run out soon, so if you have picked one up in the past, or if you have never purchased one but have been curious about it, please do so as soon as possible.

But! As I wrote "except for some products" at the beginning, there are some product numbers that we may be able to continue to produce, so we will introduce them at a later date.

We are a little disappointed to announce this today, but we will continue to offer sumi-zome and other herb-dyed products (pomegranate and Akane), and there may be opportunities to use new natural dyeing materials in the future.
It may take some time, but please look forward to our future development!
